About Me

Hi!  I am Emily

(Pronouns; she/they)

Qualifications:

VU Bachelor of Science (Osteopathy)
Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy)
AHPRA registered.

I have been working as an osteopath

since 2020, and am associated with the

Biolistening Osteopathy collective.

I love being an ostepath and feel

grateful to have found this profession.

I was drawn to osteopathy because of

how I felt during treatment sessions.

The osteopaths I saw demonstrated

attentiveness to me as a whole person,

rather than as an isolated set of symptoms.

This is something I found deeply

satisfying and healing.

I wanted to create that experience

for other people too.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community

I aim to create a safe and welcoming space

for this community.

I use a variety of treatment styles,

depending on the conditions I am treating,

but will often focus on

slower, gentler techniques.

I tailor osteopathic treatments to each individual,

listening to how the body responds and

adapting accordinglySome people

respond well to direct firm techniques, but

other bodies need softer, more subtle,

treatment approaches.

Becasue of this I offer longer appointment times.

I have learnt that it's important to

allow time for the nervous system to relax

as this system plays a significant role in determining

musculo-skeletal function.

It's important to slow down and take time

to listen to what each person needs.

I have my own history of injuries and

chronic pain, so I understand the impacts these

can have on life, and the frustrations that can

come with recovery and management.

Prior to studying osteopathy, I had many

diverse roles and life experiences -

teaching social circus to children and adults,

studying arts and community development,

and volunteering at WIRE (Women’s Information

Referral Exchange) - just to name a few!

I am still involved in the circus world,

teaching acrobalance and performing with the

Women*s Circus in Footscray.

I love the physicality of circus arts, and

am constantly interested in what can

provide more strength and

freedom of movement.

Outside of work - I love gardening, and

spend most of my spare time amongst the

vegies and flowers.
